An international forum held last month assessed the potential of latest technologies in the diversification of ICT. Connect 2009, the fourth information and communications technology (ICT) exhibition and conference, held last month from 5th to 7th May, at Pakistan's Karachi Expo Centre, proved to be a meeting ground for many global ICT industry stakeholders. Many industry professionals and experts from across the world exchanged thoughts on the latest technological advancements, industry challenges, opportunities and concerns that are predominantly affecting the growth of this segment. Various technological advancements and the latest industry trends relevant to the business of the ICT sector were also showcased. The IT department of the government of Sindh, Pakistan, also launched its e-government project on this occasion. The fifth edition of the event is scheduled from 29th to 31st May 2010.

Another facet of the event was an exhibition where 95 companies from over twelve countries, including Australia, France, Japan, China, India, Singapore, USA and UK, participated and engaged in mutually beneficial agreements.(PTA) organised the event, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) was the lead sponsor. The event witnessed a footfall of over 7,000 industry professionals.
